What is WhipWorks?

WhipWorks is an e-commerce website for my good friend Adam Fieldson. He sells handmade bullwhips that are custom-made to order, along with other whip supplies.

Because all of his whips are custom-made, none of the existing e-commerce frameworks supported all of the options that his customers need to go through. It was important to us that the customers have a great user experience when designing their bullwhip. I also built it so that Adam can easily add new products (all customizeable) himself, and he's already built the site out far beyond what I originally created.

My involvement

Adam and I first sat down to discuss what he wanted out of the new whipworks.com, which included a lot of customizations and eventual plans for a suite of whip-making tools. We picked Gatsby and Snipcart as the best tools for the job, since they allowed Adam to create product pages that snipcart could automatically pull from.

It took me a few weeks to build the site, including a 3d-bullwhip previewer and since then he's accepted lots of orders from the site!
